We’ve got your Longmont visitors guide!

Have you spent a whole day in Longmont, Colorado yet? Denver and Boulder get a lot of credit for their many restaurants and entertainment venues, but Longmont is a special place worth visiting. The historically agricultural town has grown into a stunning location for people to experience award-winning farmers’ markets, farm-to-table restaurants on actual farms, and unbelievable imported cheeses. You could spend the entire day looking at art, hiking the beautiful scenery, or set up camp next to a lake. There’s so much to do in Longmont, but this is how we would spend a stoney Saturday in town.

Breakfast at Javastop

You have to stop in the oldest cafe in Longmont. Javastop is a family-owned and operated coffee establishment that first opened its doors in 1992. They serve marvelous coffee and an enormous assortment of teas. Drop-in for some freshly baked pastries and perhaps stay a while to admire the local artists’ work on display. If you see something you like, snag it because they update the assortment every month. Javastop’s website

Downtown Walking Tour

There’s a ton to see in Longmont, especially if you’re taking a stroll down historic main street. You’ll notice the distinct architecture and hometown feel wherever you go. Make sure you at least go by Callahan House, a beautiful victorian home. Its elegant grounds are used for weddings and events. If you desire more knowledge, check out the Free virtual tours that include historic photographs, text, and audio recordings that walk you through more than dozen downtown locations from your smartphone. The text and audio are available in both English and Spanish. Walking Tour link

Lunch at Georgia Boys BBQ

For the sweet taste of black-market BBQ, you have to see the Georgia Boys. It all started in December of 2010 as a brown bag delivery service out of their apartments in Boulder, CO. Word quickly spread about their fantastic food, and they started selling their “black market BBQ” in the parking lots of local breweries. With a little bit of luck and a gentle nudge from the local health department to find a real commercial kitchen, they finally opened their doors in a tiny 100-year old house converted to a BBQ Shack. Dinner at Longmont Public House

Opened by a Longmont Local, Public House is a friendly American Pub where the neighborhood can experience a cozy atmosphere and enjoy familiar and high-quality food accompanied by excellent local craft beer and exceptional wine. The restaurant has a spacious dining room, a bar with plenty of TVs to watch your favorite sports, and a patio that faces any excitement happening on the Longmont Football Field.

Watch the Sunset at Mcintosh Lake

McIntosh Lake has 3.5 miles of accessible walking routes with glorious views of the Rocky Mountains, including Longs Peak and Mt. Meeker. The park is crawling with wildlife like prairie dogs, bald eagles, and pelicans. McIntosh Lake is well-known for its excellent fishing and is a popular destination for paddleboarders and kayakers. However, nothing can beat sunsets over the lake. It’s the best way to wrap up a perfect day in Longmont, Colorado.  Check it out on Visit Longmont
