Luckily, thanks to products like YoCan’s portable enail nectar collector vape (insert clickable link), you can now take your dabs on the go. Below, we’ll cover everything you need to know about these portable dab pieces, called Nectar Collectors. From the different kinds, how to use them, benefits, and even how to clean them, we’ve got you covered!

What is a Nectar Collector?

You’re probably familiar with the name “Nectar Collector,” a brand that paved the way for other brands to make similar dab straws. You may have also seen Micro NC Nectar Collectors at your favorite shops. Think of a nectar collector as a simplified and portable dab rig. Sometimes they’re also called a dab straw or honey straw. Typically, with a dab rig you have to pick your dab, heat up the nail, and let it cool to the right temperature before you can use it. Well with an electronic nectar collector the process is more simplified. All you have to do is let your nectar collector heat up, dip it into your concentrate, and inhale the good times.

3 Kinds of Nectar Collector

Let’s take it one step further. You may be wondering what kinds of nectar collectors are out there. You’ll mainly see them made out of silicone, metal, or glass.

1. Metal Nectar Collectors

These can give you a sleek design and often house an electronic heat source.

2. Silicon Nectar Collectors

Ones made from silicone are much more durable than glass, but it’s important to make sure they are made from food-grade material. Otherwise, you can expose yourself to unhealthy toxins from the plastic.

3. Glass Nectar Collectors

Glass on the other hand is a little more delicate, but is safe and provides a cleaner terpene flavor.

Whichever direction you decide to go, spend some time making sure your nectar collector is made from a high quality material so you’re getting the best short and long term experience.

Nectar Collector Benefits

Nectar Collectors can provide certain benefits over dab pens, oil rigs, and vaporizers.

Dab straws are easy to use and efficient, which saves you money! You only have to heat up a small area and dip it into your concentrate to feel major effects. On top of this, they are super portable and small. If you don’t have an electronic one, all you have to bring is a small torch to heat the tip. The best part is that they’re easier to clean than you might think.

How to use a Dab Straw

Now that we’ve gone through some of the basics, here’s how you use a nectar collector:

  1. Pick out your concentrate and place it in a heat resistant container.
  2. Heat the tip, either with a torch or press the button if it is electronic.
  3. Make sure the end is not too hot. Once it’s at a good temperature, touch the side of the concentrate with the tip.
  4. Act like you’re drinking out of a straw by pulling the contents up.

Cleaning a Nectar Collector

One of the major upsides of using a nectar collector to dab is how easy they are to clean:

  1. Take apart all pieces of the nectar collector like the mouthpiece, airflow tube, and coil which you typically have to unscrew.
  2. Submerge these pieces in a container with isopropyl alcohol (try and get 91% or higher). Do not submerge the main tube that has the electronics inside.
  3. Let everything soak for at least 30-60 minutes. The longer the better.
  4. Afterwards, you can use q-tips to get the tougher spots. Then rinse everything off. Dry. Put back together.
